I  AM
JADA  NYCOLE  ELLISE

Born and raised in Detroit, Jada Nycole Ellise grew up surrounded by the sounds of Motown, Jazz, Techno, and Gospel music. Her heroes were the likes of D'angelo, J Dilla and Lalah Hathaway--just a few of many to inspire Ellise to cultivate her own soulfully whimsical world of sound.  Though, it was an early obsession with animation and endless nights of sneaking to watch Adult Swim that drove her deeper into music making. The Adult Swim bump beats produced by  Flying Lotus would eventually inspire Ellise to explore music production on an Akai XR20 drum machine. From there, a sonic love affair began to bloom.

As a composer Ellise has lended her artistry to various art mediums from short films to interactive performance art. Ellise has performed across the country at many popular venues including  the star studded iVoted festival, The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles and Apache Café in Atlanta. In 2014 Ellise competed in the Detroit Jazz Festival's Youth Vocal competition placing runner-up. She has also performed as an opening act for artists such as Anthony Hamilton, Chrisette Michelle, Elle Varner, and soul legends Frankie Beverly and Maze. In addition to performing center stage, Ellise has also supported jazz vocalist Kathleen Bertrand as a background singer.

Ellise’s debut  album Temporary Colors was released on June 19, 2020 for digital and physical sale. The project is self-produced consisting of 12 songs that feature the singer’s skills as a singer-songwriter, and additionally a  multi-instrumentalist.
